A good frind of mine died last week and we had his wake on Saturday. People from all over the state to pay their respects. We went to the cemetery and raised sky lanterns for him. This art was inspired from it.

A respectful memorial message as the stem of a red poppy flower, similar to the ones that inspired John McCrae to write his poem "In Flanders Field," in 1915, as well as Moina Michael's later response poem, “We Shall Keep Faith.” Along with Anna Guérin, these people helped this flower become a more widely accepted and internationally known symbol for remembering soldiers that had fallen on the battlefield. Examples today include: Memorial Day (such as in the United States), Armistice Day, Remembrance Day, Anzac Day, and National Poppy Day.
