I painted this watercolour, in the village of Fondón in La Alpujarra Almeriense, looking through this tinao down a narrow street off the main square. Tinaos are a regular feature in the villages of La Alpujarra. They are arches at crossroads over which the neighbouring houses spread. I like the way this one frames the composition leading the eye down the narrow, cobbled street.
