The Basingstoke Canal At Odiham Kids Hoodie
Basaingstoke Canal Kids Hoodie
designed and sold by IanWL
A scene on the Basingstoke canal at Odiham in Hampshire with boats for hire. This canal was opened in 1794 and was constructed to link Basingstoke with the River Thames at Weybridge (Surrey) by way of the Wey Navigation. Its purpose was mainly to transport agicultural goods as far as London. However, it was never commercially successful, ceased carrying goods in 1910 and became increasingly derelict. Restoration began in 1977 and it was reopened as far as the Greywell tunnel in 1991.
