Shoot enough photos of hummingbirds, and you get something like this shot of an Anna's Hummingbird with a face full of spider web. I have no idea how long she flew around like that.

This beautiful art is based on a painting of an Anna's hummingbird by West Coast artist Andrea Walters, who has a passion for native North American wildlife.

We get male hummingbirds only on occasion. The feeders are always full, but it's the girls that stick around the most. I guess the guys just stop by to visit their friends and have a sip or two. :) This guy, an Anna's Hummingbird, stopped by in late May, 2016, for one of those visits.

It wasn't until I got an old 1980's vintage Pentax 70-210 Macro zoom that I was able to capture the speckles, and detail, on the head of these fast moving birds. Or, perhaps it's because I retired from my day job in 2015 and have been shooting hummingbirds daily since. This is a young male Anna's Hummingbird that frequented our yard in late winter 2016.

I will frequently catch a hummingbird in a pose like this, as if it has somewhere to be, NOW. Usually, they're blurry because they move so fast. This guy, a male Anna's Hummingbird, I was able to get clearly.
