Late in the Devonian, some 382 to 358 million years ago, around the same time when the first vertebrates were crawling their way onto land, a massive predator called the ocean it’s home. The size of a modern day Orca, Dunkleosteus was a fish unlike any alive today. It belonged to a group of fish called placoderms, all of which possessed heavily armored bodies, to combat this Dunkleosteus had a brutal adaptation, instead of teeth, the plate like parts of it’s armored skull extended down into cleaver like blades that self-sharpened every time it shut it’s mouth.

A cute, chubby “crocodile” looking at a dazzling pink dragonfly who just posed over its snout. It’s a lie that all alligators have wide snouts and crocodiles have thinner ones, a good way to differentiate both it’s by looking at their teeth and their skin (please don’t get too close to them!), crocodiles have interlocking teeth and integumentary sense organs (tiny pimple like “pores” in the body’s scales) while alligators lack this.

This chain chomp in N64 scared the life out of me. I was so proud when I beat it. That first encounter is definitely a core memory. I was shook.

That evil wizard has enchanted many objects deep within the dungeon, including these ball & chains. It's best to avoid them all together, thankfully they can't chase you.
