We found a great pair of shoes and rushed back to the post office. Yep—these were enchanted shoes guaranteed to turn anyone into a dancing master. "Magic shoes!" Zeke polished them off with his sleeve and claimed he could feel the aura of the magic shoes. Tom put them on and walked around the room. "I can feel the magic!" he said. Cedric, Zeke, and Alfred began playing a waltz. I counted, "One, two, three, long, short, short," like Mrs. Prescott taught us at River Falls Elementary. I said, "The magic shoes are working. Look at Tom dance!"........................

He hired a photographer to take pictures of Pike, Wild Bill, and Cody and many others. All of these pictures would end up in his stories and make Wild Bill and Cody heroes of the West. We saw Ned Buntline get on that stage headed back to New York. He waved as he passed through the gate. "I'll have a book written about you before Christmas," he promised. "I'll send you a copy!" We sat with Wild Bill and Cody overlooking the prairie that stretched to the horizon. A buffalo herd bedded down for the night as the Sun sank low in the West. Off to the north a trio of Kiowa braves sat on mustangs gazing at the scarlet sun...

I could see that General Oliver Howard and Eli S. Parker had prepared him for my associates and he did well to hold back his astonishment at seeing talking animals for the first time (and probably his last). Alfred swept his hat across the carpet in a grand gesture. He said, "It is indeed a pleasure to meet you, Mr. President. I do thank you for meeting with us this afternoon."

It was a cool, clear morn with a slight breeze that drifted ever so gently across the waters. A distant range of snow-capped mountaintops undulated and swelled like a line of long lost fairytale sandcastles. Princess Catherine ( the queen of the bees) gave us a warm welcome. No longer did she look at all like a bee. Her hair was now a golden honey that glistened spectacularly in the sunlight. She explained that she had important business with the bees to attend to after our meeting. "They are my little darlings. Not a day goes by without a crisis!" She laughed; then sat with us at copper-topped tables with eme...

I decided to remain silent while the magnitude of an Indian princess appearing from the sky on a giant bird sunk in. "Psst," I whispered to Zeke and Cedric. Book #6 The Wurtherington Diary : Buffalo Bill and the Pony Express. Art by Duy Truong.........................This is a dreamier version of the final scene from Buffalo Bill and the Pony Express,......She sent us home and we were soon enjoying the comforts of my bedroom and a goodnight's rest in our own beds. I read another chapter from Buffalo Bill, The King of the Border Men to Zeke, Cedric, and Polly. As I tucked them in, I asked if they had learned anything from our adventure with the Pony Express and Buffalo Bill.

Buffalo Bill Cody

William Frederick "Buffalo Bill" Cody (February 26, 1846 – January 10, 1917) was an American soldier, bison hunter, and showman. He was born in Le Claire, Iowa Territory (now the U.S. state of Iowa), but he lived for several years in his father's hometown in modern-day Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, before the family returned to the Midwest and settled in the Kansas Territory. Buffalo Bill started working at the age of eleven, after his father's death, and became a rider for the Pony Express at age 15. During the American Civil War, he served the Union from 1863 to the end of the war in 1865. Later he served as a civilian scout for the US Army during the Indian Wars, receiving the Medal of Honor in 1872.
