In the war between the two tribes of gods, Odin led the Aesir gods into battle against the Vanir. He began the battle by hurling his spear over the enemy host and crying, “Óðinn á yðr alla!” (“Odin owns all of you!”). The historical Norse repeated this paradigmatic gesture, giving the opposing army as a gift to Odin in hopes that the god would return the favor by granting them victory.

The 2024 season will be the Baltimore Ravens' 29th in the National Football League.

A vegvísir (Icelandic 'sign post' or 'wayfinder') is an Icelandic magical stave intended to help the bearer find their way through rough weather. If we wish to continue to have our classics read and interpreted in modern day we must continue to reinterpret them. So here she has become one with the Ravens and will cease to return to the narrator’s side. Quoth the Raven “Nevermore.” “Eagerly I wished the morrow;—vainly I had sought to borrow From my books surcease of sorrow—sorrow for the lost Lenore— For the rare and radiant maiden whom the angels name Lenore— Nameless here for evermore.”

Although humans see reality in colour, for me, black and white has always been connected to the image's deeper truth, to its most hidden meaning.

Baltimore smells like pee

Mjolnir, the Hammer of Thor is undeniably one of the most popular fictional objects in popular culture today. It has been helped in no small part to that position by the spectacular success of the Avengers movie series and especially the popularity of Thor, the Norse god who wields it. The Mjolnir/Mjölnir is actually part of the Norse mythology of the peoples of Scandinavia and tales of its creations and marvelous feats are about a thousand years old. The name, ‘Mjolnir’ is commonly accepted to mean ‘Lightning’ in the capacity as the hammer of the God of Thunder but the root word is more similar to the words ‘grind’ or ‘crush’.

The ravens Huginn and Muninn representing thought and memory served Odin and were his main source of information in Asgard.

Huginn and Muninn not only are Odin’s ravens: it appears that Huginn represents the thought, while Muninn would be the memory and one cannot live without the other. Because of this, some scholars believe that these two famous ravens are linked to shamanic rituals. We can find examples of these mythological characters in the Prose Edda and in the poetry of skalds, as well as many archaeological artefacts featuring the god Odin accompanied by one or two ravens.
