Santa Apolónia Station, Lisbon, May 2022 The Santa Apolónia Station is the oldest railway terminus in Portugal. Initial construction was completed in 1865, but it was not until 1873 that the first line became operational. It is situated close to the northern bank of the River Tagus in the historic district of Alfama. Many pictures on the web show the station building painted in a distinctive pale blue colour, but the new red and white colour scheme looks equally striking. Date: 18th May 2022.
