Quiet start to a lovely December morning at Tynemouth Long Sands on the North East Coast of England. The sun is just about to rise above the horizon and has cast a lovely colour onto the sky which in turn is reflected in the wet sand giving a minimalist feel to the image. Tynemouth pier and lighthouse together with the ruins of Tynemouth Priory can be spotted on the horizon with a lone walker and a photographer on the shoreline.

Close up of rocks and boulders used to protect the fragile cliffs on the Norfolk coast from coastal erosion. Wooden groynes were used to protect from coastal erosion however they have since been replaced with these rocks and boulders.

A long exposure of the rocks and boulders imported and arranged on Cart Gap beach to protect the fragile cliffs from erosion damage from the North Sea. Historically, wooden groynes and wave breakers were used to protect the Norfolk coast however these have since been replaced with the tougher and more robust boulders and rocks.

The Benton McKaye Trail is a 298 mile long-distance hiking trail through 3 states, Georgia, Tennessee, and North Carolina. It is named after a forester who first had the idea for the Appalachian-Trail with which it shares an end point, Springer Mountain. Now worn down to rounded ridges that average less than 1,000 feet in elevation, these pinnacles are the remains of one of the oldest mountain ranges in the Eastern United States. Of the four major peaks in the park - Morrow, Sugarloaf, Hattaway and Fall - Morrow Mountain is the highest at an elevation of 936 feet. Black racers, also known as North American racers, are a group of closely related subspecies that are similar in appearance and range across the eastern half of the US.
