Poet Duško Trifunović enjoyed fame and popularity. Millions knew his verses because the best Yugoslav bands used many of his poems as lyrics. At the same time, his unique gift was taken for granted. He wrote seemingly straightforwardly: his verses were melodic, his ideas playful and crispy, and his imagery was crystal clear. It looked so simple and easy, like it already existed in the folk tradition, and he just wrote it down. This is an "academic curse" of all great people's poets: their talents are fully appreciated only when they are gone.
