Defunct Virginia Squires Basketball

The Virginia Squires was a basketball team based in Norfolk, Virginia, and playing in several other Virginia cities. They were members of the American Basketball Association from 1970 to 1976. The team originated in 1967 as the Oakland Oaks, an ABA charter franchise based in Oakland, California. They moved to Washington, D.C. as the Washington Caps in 1969 but moved to Norfolk the following year, becoming the Squires. A regional team, they played home games in Richmond, Hampton, and Roanoke as well as Norfolk. The team folded in 1976, just a month before the ABA–NBA merger.Show your hometown pride

The Minnesota Muskies were a member of the American Basketball Association, born with the league's creation on February 2, 1967. The team played one season in Minnesota before moving to Miami, Florida to become The Floridians. The team colors were blue and gold and games were played in the Met Center in Bloomington, Minnesota.

The Colonels won the most games and had the highest winning percentage of any franchise in the league's history, but the team did not join the National Basketball Association in the 1976 ABA–NBA merger.

The Carolina Cougars were a basketball franchise in the American Basketball Association that existed from 1969 through 1974. The Cougars were originally a charter member of the ABA as the Houston Mavericks in 1967. The Mavericks moved to North Carolina in late 1969 after two unsuccessful seasons in Houston at the Sam Houston Coliseum.

Torker BMX existed between 1976 and 1984 during which time they handcrafted some of the best BMX frames ever made. Prior to Torker, the company was run by John Johnson, Steve Johnson's dad. The first Torker frame design was actually introduced by Steve Rink of Peddlepower Cycles as John's son, Doug, wanted a lighter frame to race with in 1975. Steve Rink and John Johnson had the first frame built under the Texon name.

The Baltimore Bullets were an American Basketball League (1944–47) team, and later, a Basketball Association of America (1947–49), and (beginning in 1949, following the BAA's absorption of the National Basketball League) a National Basketball Association team based in Baltimore. The team folded November 27, 1954 with a 3–11 record, making the Bullets the last NBA franchise to do so, as of 2018. Out of all defunct NBA teams, the Bullets were members of the association for the longest time and the only defunct team to win a championship. Later, the franchise was established in 1961 as the Chicago Packers based in Chicago, Illinois. In 1963, they relocated to Baltimore, Maryland and became the Baltimore Bullets.

San Diego Conquistadors were the first and only expansion team in the American Basketball Association, playing from 1972 to 1975.

Originally called the Pittsburgh Pipers, they were a charter franchise of the ABA and captured the first league title. The team played their home games in Pittsburgh's Civic Arena.

Defunct Capital Bullets Basketball Team

The Buffalo Braves were an American professional basketball franchise based in Buffalo, New York. The Braves competed in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member club of the league's Eastern Conference Atlantic Division from 1970 until 1978. In 1978, Braves owner John Y. Brown Jr. swapped franchises with then-Boston Celtics owner Irv Levin, who then moved the team to San Diego, where it was renamed the San Diego Clippers. The franchise moved to Los Angeles in 1984, and is now known as the Los Angeles Clippers.

The Miami Floridians, later in their history known simply as The Floridians, were a professional basketball franchise in the original, now-defunct American Basketball Association. The Miami Floridians played in the ABA from 1968 through 1970 when they became simply The Floridians. The team had two color schemes: their original red, blue, and white, and their later black, magenta, and orange.

The Pipers were one of the ABA's inaugural franchises in 1967. The team had great success on the court, posting the league's best record during the regular season (54-24, .692) and winning the league's first ABA Championship. The Pipers were led by their star player, ABA MVP and future Hall-of-Famer Connie Hawkins, who led the ABA in scoring at 26.8 ppg. The Pipers swept through the 1968 ABA Playoffs and defeated the New Orleans Buccaneers 4 games to 3 to take the title, with Hawkins earning Finals MVP honors. The ABA title remains Pittsburgh's only pro basketball championship.
