I visited the Biltmore Estate just outside Asheville, North Carolina a few years ago, where on display, throughout the gardens and some in the house, was an extensive collection of Chihuly Glass. This image focuses on lovely, reed-like glass sculptures that sat in a pond near the house. The translucent light passing through the mauve sculptures gave them a radiance that was quite lovely.

This lovely image is of a tree canopy in the forest on the slopes of the Blue Ridge Mountains. I spent a wonderful week near Asheville exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway and the trails that lead from it. I was really taken with the abundance of trees.

This is an image of some lily pads floating in a pond on the Biltmore Estate, near Asheville in North Carolina. I loved the arrangement of the lily pads but found the underwater detail distracting. To counter this, I've taken some artistic licence by isolating that part of the image and darkening it to a point where it is essentially black. This has given the lily pads and flower the surreal quality of floating, as if in space.

Spanning the southern and central Appalachians, the Blue Ridge Parkway offers an exceptional glimpse of the regional flora and fauna. It is world-renowned for its biodiversity. The Parkway covers a wide range of habitats along the Appalachian Mountains, and some of these habitats are exceptionally rare. Visitors encounter unsurpassed diversity of climate, vegetation, wildlife and geological features.

This image based on my photo taken of Hooker Falls is inspired by silkscreen design, campy paint by numbers, and the many national and state parks. Hooker Falls is an easily accessible waterfall in DuPont State Forest. Hooker Falls was used in The Last of the Mohicans when the characters go over the falls in canoes. Hooker Falls is part of a trail in DuPont that includes several waterfalls. Stroller and motorized wheel chair accessible to the top of the falls. Not sure about taking them down the hill to the bottom of the falls. This has also become a popular swimming spot, so it is very crowded in the summer. See my other travel, vintage or retro designs. The Asheville Drum Circle is highly popular and gathers very large crowds that fill Pritchard Park to overflowing on nice summer nights. The sounds of the drums echo off buildings nearby and roll up and down Patton Avenue. When the weather is good, you will find drummers there from 6-10 pm on Fridays. Now, wouldn\'t you like a souvenir of the drum circle?
