Cervantes's Don Quixote in his library, 1863 French edition. Don Quixote reading books on chivalry in his library before setting out on his quest. 'Don Quixote' is a work published in two parts (1605 and 1615) by Spanish novelist Miguel de Cervantes (1547-1616). It tells the story of a Spanish nobleman and would-be knight Alonso Quijano (who calls himself Don Quixote) and the farmer Sancho who travels with him as his squire. Artwork, by French artist Gustave Dore (1832-1883; engraved by Heliodore Joseph Pisan (1822-1890).

They were wild and mad to follow the winds to the windmills. Charged with craziness they took the will in to their own hands. And for one, he became an ass, as the windmills were in his mind! Pencil drawing adaptation of the famous story of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza, with a twist to some animal behaviour. Completed this week, the week my Grandma died, so I dedicate it to her. The final in a ten series of animal behaviour, that will become the first volume of a Blurb book dedicated to the subject.

Take flight in martial arts fantasy with this design inspired by the works of author Joseph J Bailey. Here's more of the story... Kensaro Hatanu's soul was born the day his master handed him his first sword. Except Kensaro's master did not hand him a sword to walk the path of the otana hanji, the sword saints of legend. His teacher handed Kensaro a broom. A broom to clean the monastery. While the other martial ascetics of Guai Lu practiced their physical and spiritual disciplines, Kensaro swept, mopped, and dusted, imagining he was slaying monsters, saving villagers, and meting out justice. Until the demons came and his broom was called to action.

Being a don Quijote fan, I love anything to do with Quijote and have done several paintings featuring don Quijote, Sancho and other aspects of the novel. This piece is of don Quijote’s fight with the windmills.
