The Duquesne Brewing Company was officially incorporated on April 4, 1899. The first president was Henry Miller, formerly a furniture salesman. The original trademark of the brand was a depiction of Fort Duquesne (though it actually featured a depiction of the Fort Pitt Blockhouse with the words "Fort Duquesne" underneath it), and the more recognizable "Prince of Pilsners" trademark was added later. The brewery decided to use refrigerated train cars to ship the beer, an innovative move in the early twentieth century. A Chicago stockyard man, Max Epstein, connected Duquesne with Armour and Company, and had Duquesne's company logo emblazoned on one of the cars. he Joseph Schlitz Brewing Company was an American brewery based in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and once the largest producers of beer in the United States. Its namesake beer, Schlitz ( /ˈʃlɪts/), was known as "The beer that made Milwaukee famous" and was advertised with the slogan "When you're out of Schlitz, you're out of beer".Schlitz first became the largest beer producer in the US in 1902 and enjoyed that status at several points during the first half of the 20th century, exchanging the title with Anheuser-Busch multiple times during the 1950s.

The existence of Belle Glade is due to the federal project of draining the land around Lake Okeechobee in Florida so that the acreage could be used for agriculture. The rich soil which was previously submerged was mucky, so the town (and much of the surrounding area) became known by the nickname Muck City. The town, which included the Golden Eagle Bar, was built in 1925 and subsequently destroyed three years later by a hurricane which killed thousands of people. The small town was subsequently rebuilt, including the Golden Eagle, which continued to serve the local population along with the many agricultural workers for decades into the future.

Tucked into the side of the Moore Hotel (built in 1907), this old school dive bar bordering Seattle’s Belltown neighborhood first opened it’s doors in 1939. They served up cheap (and stiff!) drinks from nice, but no-nonsense bartenders in a colorful, no-fuss, vintage atmosphere. It was the kind of place where bike messengers, old-timers, metal heads, hipsters, and oddball downtown characters sat side-by-side in harmony. They also had live music, dart boards, pool tables, a killer happy hour, and strangely, really good food. It closed suddenly in Spring 2016 and locals have lamented the loss of “the last real bar in Seattle” ever since.

Founded by former slave and acclaimed moonshiner, Willie 'Moonshine' Washington in 1948, Moonshine Willie's was a popular watering hole in Louisville, Kentucky for decades. This hole in the wall was steeped in history, but not just for its extensive selection of Kentucky bourbon, but for the traditional Southern cuisine that came out of their kitchen. Moonshine Willie's small corner stage also played host to countless musicians ranging from bluegrass and country to traditional blues. While Willie had allegedly given up moon shining upon opening his tavern, in the early days it is said that regulars could order themselves a glass of his white lightning on the down low.
