I was in Sydney recently and had the luxury of being able to wander around the Harbour with my camera taking photos. I was really excited when I saw this lady and her family with her umbrella.

So peaceful, this dinghy seems to be resting, waiting to take the fisherman out to his boat for the next high-seas adventure. I couldn't resist the shimmery water that seems to end in the sky and, of course, the reflection. Another boat from San Vicente de la Barquera, north coast of Spain.

Beautiful Akaroa Harbour is part of Banks Peninsula in the Canterbury region of New Zealand. The harbor enters from the southern coast of the peninsula, where you can sail to see dolphins up close. First settled by the French, their flavour is obvious in all aspects of the village.

The beautiful bay and hilly town of Villefranche-sur-Mer in the South of France. Cruise ships come in most days through the summer months.

Cranes at Bristol Docks Number of views as of 29th May 2019 = 300. Four electrically powered dock cranes along Prince's Wharf, overlooking the Floating Harbour, Bristol, England. The cranes were built in 1951 by Stothert & Pitt, an engineering company from nearby Bath. Date: 18th February 2014.

A harbour porpoise cruises along fishing for fish. Very similar in body shape to the critically endangered "Vaquita" Phocoena sinus ~ which is near extinction... these little harbour porpoises are similarly vulnerable and as such we must keep a close eye on them (also due to pollution and gill-net fishing.)

What do crazy photographers do on a full cloudy windy day with frigid sub-zero temperatures? Of course they go out and take pictures! This image was taken at the Hamilton Harbour in Ontario on such a crazy day. Not even a heavy sturdy tripod could produce a sharp image (even at high ISO). It was so windy you could feel the rocks on the edge of the water shaking (yep - that's where I was standing). Just to give the viewer a sense of how strong the winds were, the water level on a calm day is typically about 10 feet below the surface of the pier. Isn't this sweet? The big old boat is sharing stories with the little one. Perhaps they're pretty scary stories! Poor little boat ;-) We spotted lots of lovely old boats in the port of Puerto Natales in southern Chile many moons ago when we were there on a climbing trip. I was very happy when I finally painted these this year, reliving some wonderful memories.

Sunset over Brownsea Number of views as of 14th January 2018 = 800. The evening sun slips away over Brownsea, the largest of the islands in Poole Harbour, Dorset, England. Best known as the birthplace of Scouting, Lord Baden Powell held the inaugural Scout camp on the island in 1907. Reached by ferry from Poole Quay or Sandbanks, the island is now maintained by the National Trust and is open to visitors during the months of April through to September. The private jetties in the foreground, belong to some of the houses in Sandbanks 'Millionaire's Row', the 4th most expensive property location on the planet. Date: 5th July 2010.
