Grim Reaper was a heavy metal band formed in Droitwich, England in 1979. They were discovered after winning a Battle of the Bands contest with over 100 acts, and eventually signed to Ebony Records, with a track on the Ebony compilation, “Heavy Metal Heroes.” Their debut album “See You in Hell” was released in '83 on Ebony and was well received. Their '85 follow-up, “Fear No Evil,” enjoyed moderate success in both the United States and Europe, giving the band considerably more exposure. In the summer of '85, the band appeared at the long-running Texxas Jam Festival, playing to over 80,000 people. Legal battles with Ebony Records delayed the release of the band's third album, "Rock You to Hell" by almost two years.

WASP is an American heavy metal band formed in 1982, emerging from the early 1980s Los Angeles heavy metal scene. The band's popularity peaked that decade, yet they continued to record and tour, making them one of the most enduring of the West Coast metal bands. WASP gained notoriety for their shock rock-themed image, lyrics, and live performances. The band was a prominent target of the Parents Music Resource Center (PMRC), an organization that pushed for warning labels on recorded music in the '80s.

This was Beck's first album to showcase his fingerstyle play, leaving his more familiar plectrum playing style. In a further move from his previous jazz fusion stylings, Beck adopts a more straightforward instrumental rock approach on this album, save for two tracks ("Guitar Shop" and "Day in the House") on which quirky spoken vocals are included.

Rigor Mortis was an American thrash metal band that formed in 1983 in the DFW Texas area. The band created some of the heaviest thrash metal of the era, often flirting with death metal, cutting a demo in 1986. As one of the only major thrash bands from Texas, Rigor Mortis is often credited with creating the lone star state's underground metal scene. When thrash metal started to be seen as commercially viable, Rigor Mortis got a major label deal and released a self-titled first album in 1988. Releasing an EP in 1989, and a second LP in 1991, the band called it quits later that year. 23 years later, they would reunite for a final album in 2014 that would not only be crowdfunded by fans, but end up being considered their most brilliant work...
