Dear Lord, what a sad little Christmas

When we look within ourselves, we discover that we do not have to look outward toward the futile promise of life that circles distant stars in order to still our cosmic loneliness. We should look within; the paths of the heart lead to nearby universes full of life and affection for humanity.

She is as mysterious as she is art nouveau. Where is she coming from? Where is she going? Why is she so blue? (Answers: the 1910s, wherever you take her, because the red version had too much pixelation). Modified from a public domain original in the NYPL.

As Autumn arrives, it brings about a fall of leaves throughout the wood. Tree trunks stained dark with new bouts of rain contrast with bright-yellow sunlit eaves still holding on to their place in the sun. Quietly, and resigned to the season, the Birch, Larch and Hornbeam and scraggy young Oaks give up their decor until another season starts the process over again. The wood is always beautiful whatever time of the year you visit.
