Looking across the River Thames to Henley in Oxfordshire. Here we can see the boathouses with their balconies and outside staircases just downstream from the town's bridge. Behind can be seen the towers of the old brewery - still in operation but not in Henley any more! The stretch of river here is most famous for the annual Henley Royal Regatta run since 1839 for 1 mile 55o yds from Temple Island almost to this spot! A boat of sightseeers heading across the Douro River in the city of Porto (or Oporto). This city, the second largest in Portugtal, lies on its north west coast at the point where the Douro meets the Atlantic Ocean. Across the river here are the warehouses and offices of the port wine companies - well worth a visit! The centre of the city has, since 1996 been designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This image has been processed to give a coloured pencil finish.

A digital coloured pencil drawing from my original photograph of the village of Sonning-on-Thames in Berkshire. Once across the nearby bridge, however, you reach Sonning Eye in Oxfordshire - from where this image was captured. Sonning is a picturesque village just further downstream from Reading, and was described by Jerome K Jerome in 'Three Men In A Boat' as 'the most fairy-like little nook on the whole river' The village is now home to a number of celebrities.

The River Deben in Suffolk at low tide seen from the footpath along itys bank. The lolw tide has revealed the mudflats which are a haven for wildlife such as a variety of waders prodding the silt for food. Further on is the harbour at Woodbridge on the tidal stretch of the River Deben just before it flows into the North Sea at Felixtowe. The town was once known for its shipbuilding and rope making - and it is said that some of Sir Francis Drake's warships were built here.

Standing on the historic bridge at Henley-on-Thames in Oxfordshire looking upriver. Here there are cafes, bars and restaurants overlooking the River Thames. Here also can be found boatyards where everything from rowing boats to river launches can be hired - or perhaps go on a river trip for an hour or two. This is a historic area for sport and is the site of the famous Henley Royal Regatta which has been held since 1839, gaining 'Royal' status under the patronage of Prince Abert in 1851. Just upstream from the town of Marlow-on-Thames in Buckinghamshire. We can see the houses and the spire of All Saints Church - a local landmark. The Thames here is famous for rowing with a number of Olympic rowers training both in Marlow and at the nearby National Sports Centre at Bisham Abbey, This is the scene from the Thames Path National Trail which starts near the source of the Thames and continues all the wat to the Thames Barrier in London.

This is from an original watercolour showing a view along the River Leam which runs through the centre of Leamington Spa in UK. The view was from a bridge in Jephson Gardens which offer a small oasis of peace in a busy town centre. My work is now in collections throughout the UK, Europe and America where these traditional wet-in-wet technique paintings are very popular.

The scene just above the old mill in Goring-on-Thames. Here the river divides, the main stream passing through the lock (just behind us) and rushing over the weir whilst this branch once turned the millwheel. Boats are frequently moored here and opposite are some recently refurbished boathouses and a row of black and white buildings which houses the dentist's surgery! Goring became famous in recent years as the home of George Michael who lived next to the Mill. Digital art from my original photo

Watercolour created from a photograph takin in the grounds of Calke Abbey a National Trust property in Derbyshire in the UK. A truly beautiful area that always inspires.

The Riverside Pilots were a Minor League Baseball team in Riverside, California from 1993 to 1995. They were a Class A-Advanced team that played in the California League, and were a farm team of the Seattle Mariners. In spite of making the playoffs each year of its existence, poor attendance plagued the franchise throughout its tenure. The Pilots finished last in the league in attendance for three consecutive seasons. The franchise was moved to Lancaster, for the 1996 season as the Lancaster JetHawks.

A monochrome view across the River Thames of Windsor Castle's famous Round Tower overshadowing the town. . The tower itself sits on an artificial mound or 'motte', the original being built by Henry II in c1170. The present tower is a remodelling under George IV in the 1820s. The castle has always been a Royal residence, a retreat from the centre of London. Below it the River Thames has always been a highway to and from London, at one time the main route.

Along the Seine in Paris, France

This peaceful backwater is immediately next to the rushing waters of Benson weir on the River Thames in Oxfordshire. This was photographed in late August and the lush green foliage rather belies the hot, dry weather we had experienced durung the summer! The image was taken from the Thames Path which, if coming from Wallingford, has just passed over the lock and weir at Benson. Carrying on to the left we reach a riverside cafe and bistro - just right for refreshments before the return walk!

Riverside International Raceway [outline]

Looking across the River Thames - invisible here behind the thick growth of riverside plants - to the town of Lechlade in Gloucestershire. This is a picturesque market town at the southernmost edge of the Cotswolds, close to the Oxfordshire border. Behind the Riverside pub and restaurant can be seen the spire of the parish church of St Lawrence - a local landmark. The Thames Path starts close by, near to the town of Cricklade and continues all the way to the Thames Barrier in London.
