This started out as a face mask that I made for my fiber arts shop, but morphed into digital artsiness.

This work was created from one of my watercolors. I go scuba diving. Painting subjects that I photographed under water prolongs the happiness that this activity gives me. I will be delighted that you like this work!

Radial symmetry of this beaded sea anemone (Heteractis aurora) leads the eye of the photographer into the mouth of this "cnidarian" anemone ~ whilst a female commensal 'five-spotted' pacific clown anemone shrimp (Periclimenes brevicarpalis) displays and splays her 'tail-fan' in front of the camera for instant capture! All "Cnidarians" are distinguished by 'cnidocytes' specialized stinging cells which they use for capturing prey.

The 'language' of colour and also fluorescence is illustrated well within this Ceranthid tube anemone ~ even without flash ~ they make brilliant subject matter! Cerianthids have a crown of tentacles that consists of two whorls of distinctly different sized tentacles. The outer whorl consists of large tentacles that extend outwards. These tentacles taper to points and are mostly used in food capture and defence. The smaller inner tentacles are held more erect than the larger lateral tentacles and are used for food manipulation and ingestion.
