Our track and field stadium definitely wins the gold medal. The sport of track and field gets its name from the location of the competitions -- on a track and on a field. Although designs differ, every track and field stadium has an oval shaped track and then an area of grass or turf within the track. Track and field events derive from the first known organized sporting competitions, the ancient Olympics. Since then, the sport has grown to include numerous running, jumping and throwing events.
