Waves crashing into the rock pools at Currumbin on the Gold Coast just after sunrise. Further out to sea, paddleboarders are following the whales that came in incredibly close to shore.

Danbo got a bit scared when he realized his neighbor was a pizza-eating, nunchuk-toting mutant turtle!

My Danbos arrived! For those that don't know, Danbo is a character in the manga Yotsuba&! that Amazon decided to adopt as its unofficial mascot in Japan. The figures are absolutely adorable! Little Danbo needs to learn about the world from his mother, so where else to start but with Apple? :-P

Wolverine has learned that my camera usually means a big light going off in his eyes, so it was very difficult to get him to look up for this shot!

I took this photo during a snap rain storm earlier in the week. I was lucky enough to get home just before the storm so I didn't get wet... but Danbo did when I put him out on our Jacaranda-covered walkway in the backyard!

This beautiful photo shot in the Mt Coot-tha Botanical Gardens in Brisbane, Australia, features a butterfly and a bee resting together on a stunning Purple Mist flower or a Barttlettina Sordida.

We got very lucky here in Brisbane on this night -- even though it rained all day and was looking very overcast at sunset, the clouds cleared just in time for the lunar eclipse (although they did float past occasionally, which accounts for some of the gaps in this photo). This was shot from the jetty at Shorncliffe and is a timelapse from the beginning of the eclipse (at roughly 9.30pm) through until full eclipse at 12.30am, at which point I went home and collapsed in bed!

This year is supposedly the last year for the dump and burn, even though Brisbane Festival organisers have been saying that for three years now! This was the second flyover of the night, and definitely much more fun for those of us at Wilson's! Shot with a Nikon D700 and a Nikkor 14-24mm f/2.8 lens.

The Danbos trekked all day in search of the elusive end of the rainbow. As the sun was beginning to set, they stumbled upon it. In their exhaustion, one collapsed near the source of the rainbow while the other stood and gave thanks to whoever was watching from above. I just thought such cute characters needed a cute story to go with them :)

October is Danbo's favourite time of year in Brisbane because the jacarandas carpet the entire city in purple.

Yesterday was the first day I've headed out for both a sunrise and a sunset shoot. While the sunrise was definitely more spectacular -- and the wake up time made for a very tired photographer come sunset -- it was still well worth clomping out through the mud to see this view!
