Towel Day is celebrated every year on May 25th to honor the author Douglas Adams and his book "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy." Fans carry a towel in tribute to its importance in the story. It's a day to celebrate great literature and intergalactic adventures.

The number 42 is especially significant to fans of science fiction novelist Douglas Adams’ “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy,” because that number is the answer given by a supercomputer to “the Ultimate Question of Life, the Universe, and Everything.” Booker also wanted to know the answer to 42. That is, are there three cubes whose sum is 42? This sum of three cubes puzzle, first set in 1954 at the University of Cambridge and known as the Diophantine Equation x3+y3+z3=k, challenged mathematicians to find solutions for numbers 1-100. With smaller numbers, this type of equation is easier to solve: for example, 29 could be written as 33 + 13 + 13, while 32 is unsolvable.

“Share and Enjoy” is of course the slogan of the Sirius Cybernetics Corporation Complaints Division and was displayed in three mile high illuminated letters near the SCCCD which now covers the major land mass of three medium sized planets. Unfortunately its weight was such that shortly after it was erected it collapsed and dropped nearly half its length. The protruding upper halves of the letters now appear, in the local language, to read “go stick your head in a pig” and are no longer illuminated except at times of special celebration.

What to prove would be Quad erat demonstrandum. In the text to the legendary Babel Fish Douglas Adams or God himself gives the evidence that it can not exist. QED Babel Fish is a purposely simple design in the otherwise familiar abbreviation Qed from the Euclid textbook, which would be to prove and is such an ideal gift for all nerd geeks mathematician physicists atheists and friends of fantastic science fiction.
