The First American Volunteer Group (AVG) of the Republic of China Air Force in 1941–1942, nicknamed the Flying Tigers, was composed of pilots from the United States Army Air Corps (USAAC), Navy (USN), and Marine Corps (USMC), recruited under President Franklin Roosevelt's authority before Pearl Harbor and commanded by Claire Lee Chennault. Their Curtis P-40B Warhawk aircraft, marked with Chinese colors, flew under American control. The Flying Tigers of the American Volunteer Group or AVG. This group was made up of all volunteers, who resigned their active commissions to assist the Chinese in their fight against the Empire of Japan.

The American Volunteer Group - AVG served as pilots for the Chinese Air Force, in the war against Japan. These men resigned their commissions and risked their lives to stop the tyranny of the Empire of Japan. This is the logo of their flying group.
