The Sinking Creek Bridge (also known as Clover Hollow Bridge), a 70-foot span currently maintained by Giles County VA, near Newport VA was left in place for the property owner when a new bridge was built in 1949. It was built circa 1916 with modified Howe trusses.    The Clover Hollow Bridge (located on Clover Hollow Road) was bypassed years ago, but remains in remarkable condition. One of three covered bridges (the C.K. Reynolds and Links Farm covered bridges are on private property) in Giles County, the 100 year old Clover Hollow Bridge (or Sinking Creek Bridge) is one of Virginia's remaining seven historic covered bridges. Seven generations have knelt at the church altar over a 167 since its founding in 1850. The church has at times reflected the societal norms and changes and similarly has made the effort to truly be a sanctuary as society has experienced the peaks and valleys of difficult times. The church was in existence at the time of the Civil War and was actually in the line of fire as Federal and Confederate troops exchanged gunfire from the ridge lines over the Village of Newport.
