Highland Park is a neighborhood in Northeast Los Angeles. It was, along with Sycamore Grove, one of the first two communities to be annexed by Los Angeles, in 1895. In 1927, part of Annandale, Garvanza, Hermon, and York Valley (formerly New York Valley) joined together in an alliance as "Greater Highland Park." Vintage illustration astronomy and celestial image featuring an antique star chart map of the northern sky. This planisphere is from the astronomical atlas Astronomicum Caesareum by Petrus Apianus (Peter Apian) (1495-1552). Includes constellations of mythical creatures and people, signs of the Zodiac, Ursa Major (bear), Hydra and Pegasus, the winged horse. This atlas was notable for its highly intricate wheel charts (volvelles), of which this planisphere is an example. A volvelle involves several layers of paper placed over each other, which are then rotated to produce the desired result. In this case, to show the appearance of the night sky for a given latitude, time and date.

This beautiful city map and cartography of England's capital London is dedicated to all the travellers and explorers out there. Enjoy one of the most lovely British cities: London with its Parlament and the famous London Eye. The capital of the United Kingdom (UK).

An engraving by Sidney Hall, the frst to do steel engravings. This is a map of Ireland, which is then finished in colour by hand. I have gently restored to return it to some vibrancy but not to remove its old look and feel, thus some imperfections from the original document remain. This is a high resolution image and therefore especially suited to a large print size where the details can be seen.

Hillside Village is a small, mostly residential community in Los Angeles's Eastside. It's located on the site of a former race track and home to the excellent King Torta. East Pasadena is a small, unincorporated community to the east of Pasadena -- which is slowly nibbling away at its edges. Bunker Hill is a neighborhood in Downtown Los Angeles. Originally, it was a posh neighborhood for white Angelenos. By the mid-20th century, most of the mansions were subdivided and home to a diverse, working-class population. Most were demolished in the name of "slum clearance" and today it is topped by high culture amenities and gleaming (if anonymous) skyscrapers.
