This is one of my favourites in my collection of rural scenes. I discovered this lovely white church one foggy morning in central Prince Edward Island. Perched on a hill along a country road, I took advantage of natural soft lighting to bring out the warm tones of this memorable pastoral scene. The church is located in Birch Hill, east of Charlottetown. It is the Free Church of Scotland, built in 1880. Images of Canada. Irish Settlers Memorial Charlottetown Canada by Debra Martz From the Plaque: The Irish Settlers Memorial honors over ten thousand early immigrants to the island. The granite Celtic cross symbolizes both Ireland and Christianity. The circular terrace embraces thirty-two flagstones, distinctive relics imported from each of the counties where the settlers had originated. The memorial faces the harbor at three tides where the immigrants entered upon their new lives. Point Prim Lighthouse Version 6. Prince Edward Island's oldest lighthouse. The 60 foot-tall brick conical tower has been in service since 1845. It is one of the few round, brick construction lighthouses in Canada. The lighthouse is open from mid June to Sept 30th for visitors.

I thought I was viewing a movie set while exploring the backroads of Prince Edward Island. Gillis' Drive In Restaurant is one of the last car hops service in Canada. It is located in the community of Montague, within the Town of Three Rivers, Kings County PEI. It had a lot of character and a great opportunity to create a story of nostalgia. Unfortunately at the time, there were a lot of modern day cars parked that didn't fit the theme of what I wanted to capture. What to do? So I returned the next day before daybreak and yes the lot was empty! However the sun coming up directly behind and silhouetting the drive-in itself! This wasn't working! Happy Canada Day Eh Gift

I discovered this small church in the rural community of Uigg (pronounced U-igg) during my travels of Prince Edward Island, Canada. The elegant simplicity of the Uigg Baptist Church is a testament to the Scottish pioneers who settled the area in 1829, coming from their home in Uig, Isle of Skye. Constructed in 1874, it has the original clapboard siding, with sets of 3 Gothic Revival windows complete with glazing bars and original glass on each side. It is registered as a Historic Place, in the province of Prince Edward Island. this artwork will look great framed and hanging on your wall in your home or office, or produced on a variety of products. The Japanese practice of shinrin yoku, or Forest Bathing, is good for both physical and mental wellbeing. A two-hour forest bath will help you to unplug from technology and slow down. It will bring you into the present moment and de-stress and relax. Getting outdoors for a hike and nature walk can be enjoyable and relaxing. Spending time in nature is good for your health, are a great recreational activity. This boardwalk is along the Winter River Trail in Prince Edward Island, Canada.

Shadow the Black Cat

On a trip to Prince Edward County in Ontario, I realised that it is host to some remarkable farm structures. Doted throughout the county are these vestiges of a long tradition of farming. Some where in a sad state of repair having been neglected or abandoned, but others were still in active use. I loved this one for its setting, surrounded by neatly mowed grass. The round bales of straw in the doorway spoke to its continued use. And then there's the magnificent blue of the sky; the whole scene seems idyllic.
