Doune Castle , Scotland has come to fame recently as a film location . It has featured in a number of films and TV series . The Great Hall inside the castle is 20 metres by 8 metres , and 12 metres high to its timber roof, again a 19th-century replacement.The hall has no fireplace, and was presumably heated by a central fire, and ventilated by means of a louvre like the one in the modern roof. Doune Castle was visited by Mary Queen of Scots when it was used as a hunting lodge and it features the Mary Queen of Scots room

A view of South Queensferry, the town where I live. Formerly in the county of West Lothian, South Queensferry lies on the south shore of the Firth of Forth, 10 miles (16 km) west of Edinburgh. It has been an important crossing at least since 1071 when Malcolm III granted free passage at the ‘Queens Ferry’ for pilgrims on their way to St Andrews. A ferry service operated until 1964, the year the Forth Road Bridge was opened. South Queensferry was created a burgh of regality in the 13th century and made a Royal Burgh in 1636. It traded actively with Europe in the 17th century. It’s Yourself Scottish Saying

There is something about the kind of view where things are happening on multiple layers that lends itself to pen and ink drawings. One of the few I have painstakingly drawn is this one of Aberdeen as viewed from the main shopping street at a point where it crosses over a lower road. Drawn using a dipping pen and ink the original is around A4 in size.
