Epic Voyage Magnet

Listening to a live performance of The Brendan Voyage Suite last night, Irish composer Shaun Davey's major orchestral suite depicting Tim Severin’s adventure in reconstructing Saint Brendan’s 6th century Atlantic crossing to America in a small currach-like leather-clad boat, I was inspired to work with the colors that came to mind listening to the music - the dark navy blue of the Atlantic Ocean, the greens and heather purple of the Faroes, the mountains of Iceland, perhaps even some northern lights. This image was created from a range of textures and a photograph of the Atlantic Sea with a tiny sailboat on the horizon, which is also hidden in the image, tiny in scale, just like boat of St. Brendan and 16 monks out on the ocean, sailing...
