An artistic view of the bridge over the River Thames at Clifton Hampden in Oxfordshire. This handsome bridge with its gothic arches was built in 1867 to replace a previous ferry service which had existed since medieval times. The architect was Sir George Gilbert Scott who also designed the Midland Grand Hotel at St Pancras. It was originally a toll bridge but this ended in 1946 when the local councils bought it from the private owners. This view is from the Thames Path national trail.
