A corner of the podium of Humayun's tomb, Delhi, India. Humayun was a Mughal Emperorof India and the tomb was commissioned by his first wife and chief consort, Empress Bega Begum in 1569-70. It was designed by Mirak Mirza Ghiyas, a Persian architect as the first garden-tomb on the subcontinent and also the first structure to use red sandstone at such a scale. The tomb was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993. Chateau Chantilly, Chantilly, France. The Château de Chantilly is a historic château located in the town of Chantilly, France, about 50 kilometers north of Paris. The site comprises two attached buildings: the Petit Château built around 1560 for Anne de Montmorency, and the Grand Château, which was destroyed during the French Revolution and rebuilt in the 1870s. Owned by the Institut de France, the château houses the Musée Condé. It is one of the finest art galleries in France and is open to the public.

Monnow Bridge in Monmouth, Wales, was completed in about 1270 and is the only remaining medieval fortified bridge in Britain with a standing gate tower. It crosses the River Monnow and is now pedestrianized, a scheduled ancient monument, and a Grade I listed building. Both the bridge and the gatehouse were comprehensively repaired in the 1770s, and the building ceased to be used as a dwelling in the early 1800s, after which the pedestrian access was made through the turrets.
