It is the surviving one of formerly two churches located at either end of the Krämerbrücke bridge. As a result, the nave is on the 1st floor, while on ground level is a passage to the bridge. The steeple is open to the public and offers a good view over the city centre. Today, St Giles' Church is a Methodist parish church.

The castle, church and old town were added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1994. Quedlinburg has a population of more than 24,000. The town was the capital of the district of Quedlinburg until 2007, when the district was dissolved. Several locations in the town are designated stops along a scenic holiday route, the Romanesque Road.

A view of the Krämerbrücke Bridge in Erfurt, which spans the River Gera. This is the oldest profane structure in Erfurt. It is first mentioned in 1117 and was rebuilt numerous times due to being repeatedly destroyed by fire until 1293, when a stone bridge was finally built.
