Brilliant Beer! April 2021 The south coast village of Beer (East Devon, England) is one of the jewels in the crown of the so-called 'Jurassic Coast', a World Heritage Site, covering 96 miles of coastline between Old Harry Rocks near Swanage (Dorset) all the way to Exmouth in Devon. And if you like a Head on your Beer, then you won't be disappointed. Beer Head is the name of the headland on the west side of the bay (left of centre in photograph). Date: 25th April 2021.

I'm not sure how old the thatched cottage at the bottom of the cliffs in Runswick Bay, North Yorkshire has been there but with rising sea levels its future must be of some concern. The cottage is an icon of Runswick Bay and instantly recognisable to anyone that has visited the small, historic fishing village on the North Yorkshire coast

West Village

Sopley Mill Number of views as of 30th October 2018 = 410. Sopley Mill (in the village of Sopley, Hampshire, England) was built in 1780 and is a Grade II listed building, though older mills on the same site date back almost 1000 years. The village is close to the banks of the River Avon, 3 miles north of Christchurch and 6 miles south of Ringwood. The mill no longer produces flour, but is now a wedding venue. Devon's Finest - Beer The shingle beach in the village of Beer (East Devon, England). The village takes it name not from the local tipple, but from the Anglo-Saxon word 'bearu' (meaning grove, in reference to the forested area which once surrounded the village). The beach and cliffs here form part of southern England's 95 mile Jurassic Coast which stretches from Studland Bay in Dorset to Exmouth in Devon. As with many coastal villages in this part of the world, Beer has a smuggling past, with contraband including brandy, tea, tobacco and silk. Date: 30th April 2016.

Pittenweem, Fife, Scotland. Pittenweem is now the most active of the fishing ports in the East Neuk coast of Fife. Fishing boats jostle for position in its busy harbour and this is a lively vibrant place at any time of day. To add to the atmosphere, visitors can watch the fish market conducted in the sheds on the harbour from 8.00am each morning. This village is the only one in the East Neuk, still with a working harbour. Although there are fewer boats sailing from here now than in days gone by, it is a unique opportunity to see the daily landings and early morning market. Pittenweem fresh fish is bought here and sold by the many local fish vans who travel all over Scotland selling the fish. BEST VIEWED LARGER

Otterton Number of views as of 1st May 2017 = 260. On the east bank of the River Otter, the picturesque village of Otterton (East Devon, England) includes several thatched and cob cottages and an attractive stream runs down the main street. The village is one mile inland from Ladram Bay and Devon's renowned world heritage site, the Jurassic Coast. At the time of the Domesday Book (1086), the village church belonged to the monastery of Mont Saint-Michel. Otterton Mill (the site of a water mill for well over a thousand years) now houses a craft centre, cafe/restaurant and live music venue. Date: 30th August 2012.

A view of the timber-framed cottages in The Street in Chelsworth. These all date from 1300-1500. The village dates from at least 870AD with many signs of Roman settlement here. Chelsworth is thought to have been at an important river crossing in Roman times.

Wigstock began spontaneously in 1984 when a group of drag queens decided to put on a show in New York City's Tompkins Square Park. It became an annual East Village event that continued uninterrupted until the mid-90s, when Mayor Rudolph Giuliani forced it out of the park to an area by the Hudson River. Since then Wigstock has been sporadic, experiencing many interruptions, revivals, and changes of venue, but has never once disappointed.

A sleepy village in the East of England, a place that reminds me of summer, a place where the air is scented with lilac, with hay, honeysuckle and roses. A corner of a lost paradise, where my heart aches with longing under a blue sky. The houses draw us down the street to a place where the sky meets the trees. It is timeless, reminiscent of pre-industrial times. The work is rich in colour and vivid in detail and texture. A lovely gift, a great addition to any collection, a perfect souvenir of England.
