What could be lovelier than afternoon tea in an English tea garden, with roses blooming and the gentle heat of summer radiating from the orange brick walls? A freshly brewed pot of tea, bone china cups, delicate like the petals of roses, and a delicious scone, buttery, warm and served with clotted cream. A bee hums, spoons clink porcelaine and already the day seems to grow languide. It is solid and comforting, timeless and graceful, especially when such pleasures are coupled with friendship, the nectar of plum jam and darjeeling to the account of harmless gossip. This work is rich in shadow and light, rich in realism and reflecting a lovely view of an idealised England.

Beatrix Potter was an English writer, scientist and illustrator. Her beloved character, Peter Rabbit, and his many animal friends have delighted children and adults from Victorian times until present day.

The roses have opened up this week and they smell wonderful!

Last month our apple tree was absolutely blooming with blossom! A good sign for another bountiful harvest later this year.

This is a digital design of echinacea, also commonly known as cornflowers. I have created a wall art design with several different colors of the flowers set in a pretty frame within the piece. I also created a seamless repeating pattern of the yellow cornflowers set on a blush background with white polka dots over the background. It is part of my English Garden collection of designs.

Garvinea was developed from the more popular Gerbera jamesonii variety (also called the Barberton daisy), crossed with other, hardier Gerbera. Gerbera ambigua is among these other parent plants. The goal was to create a hardier plant that would boast a stronger root system and leaves that held better to frost.

It's that time of year again, blossom time! Last autumn we had an abundance of apples from this beautiful tree and now it is laden with bountiful blossoms.

A classic cottage garden staple, hollyhocks (Alcea rosea) bloom mid-summer with numerous flowers on tall spikes. Many of the most common varieties are biennials, meaning they complete their lifecycle over 2 years. The first year is spent growing foliage and storing energy. In the second year, the stalks shoot up, flowers bloom and seeds form. However, there are also many varieties that behave like short-lived perennials and will flower in their first year when planted early enough in spring or started indoors in winter.

Corsham Court Gardens Corsham was a royal manor in the days of the Saxon kings and was passed down through successive generations of the English royal family from the times of William the Conqueror until the Tudor period. During the 16th century it was owned by two of Henry VIII's wives, Catherine of Aragon and later Katherine Parr. The current house, Corsham Court, dates from 1582, when an Elizabethan house was built here by Thomas Smythe. The house was acquired by Paul Methuen in 1745 to house his extensive art collection. Lancelot 'Capability' Brown was commissioned to add a Picture Gallery to the house and he also landscaped the grounds in his own inimitable style. Lancelot Brown, more commonly known with the nickname, Capability Brown, was an English landscape architect. He is remembered as "the last of the great English 18th-century artists to be accorded his due" and "England's greatest gardener". He designed over 170 parks, many of which still endure.
