Walking down the streets of Paris is always intriguing for a photographer. So many interesting views, scenes, art, angles, lines, textures, you name it. Simple things like the repeating lines and patterns of many building facades can make for beautiful photography. This was taken somewhere on the streets of Paris. Another image of Comayagua’s first church called Iglesia de La Merced. Building of this church started in 1550 and was elevated to the category of cathedral in 1561becoming one of the first in America. It was the first church ever to built in Honduras, and was called initially Church of the Immaculate Conception. The main Altarpiece was built in 1820 by the carpenter Coronado Chávez, who in 1845 became the president of Honduras. The altar has several interesting golden pieces in addition to images of the Dolorosa, the Nazareno, San Pedro, San Juan and the Virgen de la Merced of the seventeenth century. One of its towers was the site that initially housed the clock Moro Donado by Felipe III (currently still in a working condition). ...

The Coastline Conference and Event Center, a convention center in Wilmington, North Carolina, was constructed in the late 19th century for the Atlantic Coastline Railroad (ACL) and was used as its headquarters from the early 1900s to 1960s. During that time, ACL was the largest employer and contributor to the area's economic growth. The restoration and conversion of the ACL to the Coastline Conference and Event Center began in 1989 and was completed while still preserving the historic character of the building. As the transformation occurred, attention to detail was taken as Coastline Conference and Event Center became the ideal wedding venue and conference space for many successful contemporary events. The Rua Augusta Arch is a stone triumphal arch-like historical building and visitor attraction in Lisbon. It is situated at the entrance to the Praça do Comércio (a commercial plaza). It was built to commemorate the city's reconstruction after the 1755 earthquake. The arch features six columns (some 11 m high) and is adorned with statues of various historical figures, and the top part is filled with the coat of arms of Portugal. The allegorical group at the top of the arch represents Glory rewarding Valor and Genius. The arch was originally designed as a bell tower, but then it was transformed into an elaborate arch after more than a century. As described in my previous images in this series, this is a stone, triumphal arch-like building built to commemorate Lisbon's reconstruction after the devastating 1755 earthquake, tsunami and fire that destroyed most of the city of Lisbon. The allegorical group at the top represents Glory crowning Valor and Genius. Because of the top cornice's great height, the figures above it had to be made colossal. The female allegory of Glory stands on a three-step throne and holds two crowns. Valor is personified by an amazon, partially covered with chlamys and wearing a high-crested helmet with dragon patterns (the symbols of the House of Braganza); her left hand holds a parazonium with a trophy of flags behind.
