A digitally produced sketch from my original photograph of a hovercraft leaving the beach at Southsea, Hampshire on England's south coast during late afternoon. It speeds foot passengers over the Solent to Ryde in about 10 minutes. The service started in 1965 and iIt's now believed to be unique in Western Europe.

A sailing barge heading into Portsmouth Harbour. The image was captured from the Southsea end of Portsmouth, looking out on to Spithead. In the background are the hills of the Isle of Wight with yachts and a car ferry. These barges are more commonly seen in the Thames estuary and East Anglia area where they were once the local freight carriers.

In the Spring of 2016, I made yet another trip to the State of Oregon, and of course you cannot visit the state without making a trip to Mount Hood and the surrounding area. This was my third tip to that area. All images are taken with a Canon 5D III (full frame) and a Canon 7D II (crop frame) using a variety of Canon L-Series lenses, and Tamron and Sigma pro-line lenses; processed in RAW with ACR, PSC, Photomatix, and a variety of other imaging software. Duster Heading for The Door

A Thames sailing barge of the type once common around the Thames estuary and England's East Coast. Being flat bottomed with a shallow draft of only two and a half feet they could sail into the creeks and inlets around the Thames estuary to carry goods. The collapsible main mast allowed them to sail under bridges.They were also very stable and possessed cargo space above and below deck.

Evening time in Murano, one of the Venetian islands. It's been raining and the lights from the shops and restaurants are reflected in the canal and the wet sidewalk, as one man heads home with his shopping and another returns in his little boat, after a day' spent fishing. I edited this in photoshop CC and Topaz.

Originally photographed off Blakeney Point with textures and tones added during processing to enhance the dreamy nature of the scene. Sailing barges or Thames barges were once the 'workhorses' around the coast of East Anglia and into the Thames estuary as far as London transporting a wide variety of goods.

30th April 1982 and the ambitious plan to hit the airfield at Port Stanley gets underway from Ascension Island. Vulcans and Victors of the Royal Air Force get airborne. It would take great skill, bravery and 11 Victor tankers to get Vulcan XM607 to the target. Inspite a few set backs the mission was considered a success forcing the Argentinians to withdraw their fast jets from the air field.
