Gullies on a Martian sand dune. Coloured satellite image of gullies on a sand dune within Russell Crater, Mars. The source of the gullies is not known. They may have been carved in the past by liquid water, or may be a result of recent landslides. Image obtained by the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment (HiRISE) camera on NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) on 16th May 2009. The width of this image is roughly 1.2 kilometres across.

It was first imaged in 1959 by the Soviet Luna 3 spacecraft. Brain pathways. Coloured 3-dimensional magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scan of the white matter pathways of the brain, side view. White matter is composed of myelin-coated nerve cell fibres that carry information between nerve cells in the cerebrum of the brain (top half of image) and the brain stem (bottom centre). This image was created by an MRI scanner sensitised to the movement of water around the brain. Blue represents neural pathways from the top to the bottom of the brain, green represents pathways from the front (left) to the back (right), and red shows pathways between the right and left hemispheres of the brain.

The Shepp-Logan phantom is a popular numeric test image used in medical imaging for testing image reconstruction algorithms. It consists of several ellipsoids of varying grey levels and is supposed to represent a human skull. If you are a radiologist or interested in MRI, CT, X-ray or image processing, this design is for you. If you have a radiographer or medical engineer in your life, give it to them as a gift because radiology test images are rarely this cool-looking.

This design is a set of markers for use in radiology. It includes two markers, one labeled "Right" and one labeled "Left". They are made of lead and are used to identify the side of the body being imaged in an X-ray.

MRI is the tunnel for lovers… of cramped noisy spaces that is. Yes, the MRI bore isn't the largest, and the machine is very noisy from changing the flows of current through the magnets. But at least we give you headphone with your choice of music that you can barely hear.
