This is an illustration of an antique Inari Temple flyer from turn of the 20th century. This particular temple burned to the ground many decades ago and no longer exists as it does in the flyer art. Look closely at the area above the foxes heads. It shows the old temple complex :)

Are you a fan of Japanese mythology? This drawing of Inari shows the god of rice, fertility, agriculture, prosperity and the fox. The foxes (kitsune) are particularly closely associated with Inari. Shinto is Japan's primal religion. It worships kami (gods and spirits) in nature & everyday life. Central myths tell of land creation and gods.

Inari

It is the fox of Inari Shrine, which is famous for its red torii. Fushimi Inari Shrine is especially famous, but it was inspired by the Inari Shrine at Matsue Castle.

For those who walk with the god of prosperity

Inarizushi, or inari sushi, is a Japanese dish consisting of sushi rice stuffed inside fried tofu pouches that has been cooked in dashi broth to absorb the flavor, before being squeezed (to remove excess liquid) and stuff with sushi rice.

The first time I saw the northern lights, they appeared as a dim green line across the sky. The second time I saw the northern lights, in Inari, Finland, they danced across the entire northern sky. It was amazing...and a slightly better view than the naked Finnish men in front of the sauna nearby! Fushimi Inari Taisha is a Shinto shrine located in Fushimi-ku, Kyoto, Japan. This shrine is the central shrine for around 40,000 Inari shrines. The main shrine is located at the foot of Mount Inari and the shrine's grounds include a mountain that is 233 meters high.

Inari fox kitsune

This design is my rendering of an antique Inari Shrine prayer leaf that I saw when I was last in Japan. "Kitsune" means Fox, in this case the white messenger fox of Inari.
