Van Gogh, never a success in his own lifetime, is now one of the greats. He is known for thick heavy brush strokes - at times replacing a brush with a pallet knife.

I've been working on this pattern for the last few days, a simple floral in purple. I like irises, they're so floppy and delicate and yet sculptural and structured at the same time. This is one of two colorways.

Purple irises are considered the birth flower for people born in February and are the anniversary flower for people married 25 years.
