Junco Magnets

A sweet little dark-eyed junco, a ground feeder commonly seen in wooded areas and at backyard bird feeders. I love the way they look like little fishing bobbers. From my original oil painting.

There are several reasons birds fluff their feathers but in the very cold weather it is a way to help stay warm. Fluffing their feathers allows them to trap warm air from body heat; the more trapped air, the warmer the bird. This Dark-eyed Junco extremely fluffy so I imagine it is quite warm. These guys are usually found on the ground, like little grey and white fishing bobbers, round and cute, hopping along. From my original oil painting of a dark-eyed junco.

I'm thankful for the Redbubble community for helping me identify this bird is a Dark Eyed Junco. At least that is what I think I learned. If I'm wrong could someone help ID!

It has been a very cold winter in northern Oklahoma and much of the USA this year. This Dark-eyed Junco is a nice addition of colors to the white snow covered branches.
