The Hurricane in this image is the gate guardian of North Weald Airfield in Essex, the Buchon was taken at one of the many air shows I attend and the background is a view of Dungeness from the top of The Old Lighthouse. All other elemants in the picture, smoke, fire, bullets etc are my own creation using CS3. All images used are my own. Nikon cameras were used for the photography, except the gate guardian which is an old picture I took with a Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ8. Without the Hurricane, the RAF would have probably lost the Battle of Britain, because there were simply not enough Spitfires emerging from the aircraft factories and into the squadrons. The He 162 officially called the Sparrow or Spatz in German was a single seat Jet fighter fielded by the German Luftwaffe at the end of the second world war. Apart from rocket fighters like the Me 163 this was the fastest conventional aircraft in the air at the time topping out at 562mph at 20,000ft. Unfortunately however for its pilots it was unreliable and very difficult to fly.
