What an amazing sight this was. The few of us that were on Mon Repos beach late in the afternoon were treated to the sight of four hatchlings, stragglers from a nest that hatched the night befoe, as they made their first run to the sea. This poor girl in particular got tossed around by the waves, but eventually she made it out to the open sea. Hopefully she'll be returning back to the same beach in 30 years time to lay her own batch of hatchlings!

This is a mon I saw on the hanten of the Komagata team during the recent Sanja Matsuri. The Sanja Matsuri is one of the three largest Shinto festivals of Tokyo. Penmon or Trwyn Du (Black Point) Lighthouse is on the SE coast of Anglesey Island (Ynys Mon), North Wales. It stands between Dinnor Point and Ynys Seriol (Puffin Island), marking the passage between the two islands and the northern entrance to the Menai Strait. It was constructed between 1835 and 1838 and originally had two keepers but has been unmanned since 1922. It has a 15000cp light which can be seen for 12 nautical miles and in 1996 it was converted to solar power. Canon EOS 20D
