James Webb Space Telescope (JWST), artwork. This is an infrared telescope that is scheduled to be launched in 2018. It will have a 6.5-metre-diameter mirror (yellow), with which it will study the formation of stars and planetary systems, and the history of the universe. By using infrared wavelengths, the JWST will be able to see through much of the dust that obscures visible light. It will also study dark matter, which is thought to form the majority of the matter in the universe. The telescope dimensions are 24 by 12 by 12 metres. Structures include the primary mirror (yellow), the sunshield (folded), and the control system (lower centre).

Most of the land observation data for this image was obtained in 2001 by the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) on NASA's Terra satellite. Also included is Blue Marble data from other satellites and Earth observation systems, including observations of cloud cover, topography and chlorophyll colours in coastal waters. Improved processing was carried out to produce the final image, which includes a thin haze of atmosphere.

SpaceX's Crew Dragon in orbit, illustration. SpaceX's Crew Dragon is a next-generation spacecraft designed to carry astronauts to Earth orbit and beyond. The spacecraft will be capable of carrying up to seven crew. It will be able to land almost anywhere on Earth, and will be able to be rapidly refuelled and relaunched. It is intended to revolutionize access to space. SpaceX (Space Exploration Technologies) is a private US aerospace and space transport services company. It was founded in 2002 and has developed the Falcon rockets and the Dragon spacecraft. Future plans include crewed flights to Mars.

The new images combine data collected over a longer period of time at an improved resolution of 500 metres per pixel. Features include cloud cover, oceans, phytoplankton activity, topography, and city lights in the nighttime part of the hemisphere. Data was obtained mainly by NASA's Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) aboard the Terra and Aqua satellites between July 2001 and July 2004. Topography is based on radar data collected by the Space Shuttle Endeavor.

Yes there is a pledge and commitment to reduce our use of plastic, but its NOT going to happen anytime soon and certainly not soon enough... the ending result will be the loss and death of very sick animals ingesting and throwing up on plastic! If we do not enact sooner then we will lose species which keep our ecosystem interstices together. I cannot think of anything worse.
