Eastern Kingbird in the Country by Dbebra Martz I had just turned onto the gravel road that leads to the Salt Plains National Wildlife Refuge when I saw this Kingbird snatch an insect from the air and then return to this fence wire. So I stopped the vehicle and slowly opened the door. It sat there a few extra seconds after I was out of the truck and was able to compose and get a few shots before it flew off into the distance. A typical scene in rural Cumbria! Captured on the unclassified road approaching the village of Caldbeck in the Northern Fells where sheep regard the tarmac as their property (quite right too!). The road leads from the A595 (Cockermouth to Carlisle) leaving at Red Dial and passing through Brocklebank to reach Calbeck, a picturesque village set in the heart of the fells. Walking along the Thames Path, a designated long distance National trail. This scene is at Lechlade on the section of the path between Halfpenny Bridge and St John's Lock the first (or last) on the Thames. Here moored boats are visited by inquisitive cattle! Lechlade, a picturesque market town at the southern end of the Cotswolds marks the highest navigable pont on the river. Above here it soon becomes narrower and shallower - no place for river boats!!

Grow food not lawns. Enjoy fresh, healthy, and tasty food. A more conscious and sustainable way of living that benefits both individuals and the environment. For who loves farming and agriculture.

Sheep! I raised a colored flock of sheep in Oregon for a time. I had raised them for many colors of wool which I sold in small quantities for crafting people. doll hair, spinning, felting, etc. Wool is cut off the sheep and has huge uses for people. Did you know wool can soak up oil spills? Wool also naturally sheds water when made into sweaters and coats.
