Sophocles was a steel hull sailing ship, hence the rust down the side of the hull. She sailed from the UK to Australia and various other locations. I painted this in oil on a 100 by 80 cm canvas. The person I sold it to later told me it was stolen in a burglary on his home in Wales, maybe one day it will turn up, fortunately I captured an image of the painting for you to enjoy. Painted this one in about 2010 as one I did previously and sold was stolen, so I now have this one for sale. Its on a 30 by 20 inch canvas and has a nice gold frame around it, or buy the print or printed canvas. The Westsail 32 is a 32 foot -12.2 meter, monohull sailboat designed by William Atkin, William Crealock, and Colin Archer and built by Westsail Corporation between 1971 and 1981. 830 were built over a period of about ten years.

The Naples Sabot is an 8 foot sailing dinghy that is sailed and raced singlehandedly.

The Y Flyer is an American sailing dinghy that was designed by Alvin Youngquist in 1938 as a one-design racer and first built in 1941.

The first Town Class sailboat was designed and built (in wood only) in 1932. Later the Town Class sailboat was adopted as a one-design class boat, and quickly became a popular racing boat from Maine to Florida. In the late 1960s, fiberglass models became available.
