This imposing metal sculpture, entitled 1101, owing to the fact the armistice went into effect at 11am on November 11, 1918, stands 9ft 5ins tall and weighs 1.2 tonnes. Built out of special corteen steel, it has been installed on Seaham seafront in Country Durham to mark the centenary of the start of the Great War. Created by local artist Ray Lonsdale, the sculpture is also intended to represent Post Traumatic Stress Disorder which many of the returning soldiers endured.

The end of the pier at Penarth, Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales. This very elegant pier was opened in 1895, allowing pleasure boats to moor and replacing an earlier landing stage which was wheeled in and out of the sea. Today boats still take on passengers here, including the PS "Waverley", the last of the paddle steamers. In recent years restoration of the Pavilion has been completed. Looking East on a clear Summer day in Sidmouth,East Devon. The section of coast path is below Connaught Gardens. Salcombe Hill is the prominent feature along the Jurassic Coastline in this location.

The Dorset Coastal Town of Lyme Regis viewed from North Wall, which is adjacent to the iconic Cobb and Harbour.

Early evening and the moon is rising over the town of Silloth on the north coast of Cumbria, here seen as a digital oil painting from my original photograph. Silloth began its life in the 1850s by Carlisle businessmen who needed to establish a railhead and port. The parish church, Christ Church, seen here, is built of granite shipped over from Ireland by those same businessmen. The town, on the shores of the Solway Firth, faces the Scottish coast of Galloway and is known for its fine sunsets, once captured by JMW Turner.

This superb example of late Victorian extravaganza is a feature of the seafront promenade at Brighton, East Sussex. It was originally designed by Brighton's then Borough Surveyor, Philip Lockwood and was opened in 1884. Unfortunately it fell into disrepair during the mid 1900s but has been painstakingly restored to its former glory and was reopened in 2009.
