Founded in 1924,Echlin was a leading manufacturer of automotive replacement parts, steadily growing through a series of acquisitions of smaller companies that could provide instant access to expansion areas of interest. One such company was Ace Electric, a manufacturer of components for alternators, generators, and starters acquired in 1970. Echlin leveraged Ace Electric to get into the high-performance ignition system market in 1972. These racing quality ignition parts were marketed under the name ACCEL which, despite fierce competition, soon became the leading name in the field and a popular upgrade among hot rod, muscle car, and drag racing enthusiasts.

Back in the late '50s, hot rodders were increasingly attracted to newer cars making their way into junkyards, or more specifically, the OHV V8 engines they brought with them. An engine that made more power than their flathead V8's, was all too enticing, though the swap wasn't exactly straight forward. Of course, hot rodders were an ingenious bunch, and came up with all kinds of mounting solutions, but none of them were exactly great (or safe). Seeing a need, Hurst came out with their Adjusta-Torque engine conversion mount in 1960, promising a true bolt on solution for OHV engine swaps.

By the early ’60s, Bill Jenkins had developed something of a cult following among East Coast racers, who knew that a Jenkins Competition engine significantly increased one’s odds of winning races and when he wasn’t building race-winning engines, he was winning races driving his own cars, further cementing his name in the drag racing history books. Accepting that he gained greater satisfaction as a builder than as a driver, Jenkins hung up his race suit in 1976 to focus on research and development, though remained a team owner through the 1983 season before shifting his attention to his Jenkins Competition business full-time, where he and his crew built engines for motorsports of all kinds. Igniting the air/fuel mixture in high performance racing engines is not an easy task to begin with, but factor in high compression, extreme boost pressures, exotic fuels, and a litany of other variables, and it can become near impossible. In the mid- '80s, Snake Bite Ignition Systems set out to design a complete ignition solution that was not only easy to dial in for any high performance engine application, but was daily driver reliable. From their shop in Phoenix, Arizona, Snake Bite's sophisticated hand fabricated systems were capable of lighting the fire in even the nastiest of big blocks, while still being able to control timing to one-tenth of a degree for one hundredth of a second in any cylinder through individual cylinder timing.

Eddie Meyer went into business repairing and tuning Model T's in Redlands, California back in 1919 as Eddie Meyer Engineering. When he wasn't working on customer cars, he was moonlighting as a race car driver, running a highly tuned Rajo Model T with great success in '23 and '24. Bud, Eddie’s son, joined the business in 1928, leaving Eddie to run the show, and Bud to run the shop. To get closer to the hot rod scene, Bud moved the shop to Hollywood in 1939, and began producing some of the most outstanding flathead speed equipment ever made. Eddie Meyer intakes and heads were top shelf add-ons for dry lake racers and street racers alike, and remain legendary pieces for collectors and enthusiasts to this very day.
