Autumn is a lonely season, but sometimes loneliness is the most fruitful. It is the best time to pick and store for the future. Stamp featured on the painting is the author’s “signature”, carved in tensho calligraphy characters. The style used is known as Japanese ink wash painting, sumi-e and suibokuga. Materials used: rice paper, Chinese dry ink and animal hair brush.

Ukiyo-e of Akechi Mitsuhide (明智光秀) by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, master of ukiyo-e style of Japanese woodblock prints, restored by Takeda Art. Depicting Mitsuhide in elegant accoutrements, with a book writen about the consequences of a ruler's disregard of his subjects, and his katana behind him. Behind is the kamon of Akechi clan, with calligraphy kanji of Akechi Mitsuhide, signature and seal of Kuniyoshi.

My first work in the “Flower spirits” collection. There’s something special about orchids, and it’s not just their sensual connotation. When you look at an orchid it does seem as if it’s looking back, curiously and a bit slyly.
