Caxa Real is a brick-and-coral-colored building situated in the San Francisco neighborhood in the city of Comayagua, Honduras. It is dedicated to social, cultural, educational and business events. It was built between 1739 and 1741 to store all tributes to the Spanish crown, including gold and silver. In addition, bars of gold, plaster and silver were cast on this property (then called Casa de la Moneda) and further moved to Guatemala, which was the then Central American capital to Spain. The building suffered serious damage with the earthquakes of 1774 and 1809, and in 1840, when it was operating as a Government House, it was destroyed by a fire.
