Lancashire Lass - a Family Connection Number of views as of 19th June 2018 = 800. I was delighted to find this Gardner diesel-engined 1957 Atkinson drop-sided lorry at the Great Dorset Steam Fair. Not only because it's a fine vintage commercial vehicle, but also because there's a family connection. George Preston was in fact my uncle, whose father (George senior) started the fuel and haulage business in Earby (England) on the Lancashire/Yorkshire border. After the closure of the Colne to Skipton railway line, the company had their depot at the old station yard in Earby. Date: 4th September 2010.
