This memorial to the "men and boys" who lost their lives building the Forth Rail Bridge, South Queensferry, Scotland was unveiled on 4th July 2007 by Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond. The First Minister performed the unveiling along with the consul general of Japan Shuhei Takahashi in light of the Japanese engineers who worked on the bridge's construction. He was joined at the event by Hamish Gilchrist, who created the memorial and also paid tribute to those who died in the construction of the bridge. Work began on the one-and-a-half mile bridge between South Queensferry and Fife in 1883 and at its peak 4,600 worked on it. Water Tower under the milky way at Greenhow is a village in North Yorkshire, often referred to as Greenhow Hill. The term how derives from the Old Norse word haugr meaning a hill and a mound. It is situated about 3 miles west of Pateley Bridge on the road heading towards Grassington. It is one of the highest villages in Yorkshire, at an altitude of between 400 and 420 metres (1,310 and 1,380 ft), and one of the few villages in the United Kingdom lying at over 400 metres (1,300 ft).

What do crazy photographers do on a full cloudy windy day with frigid sub-zero temperatures? Of course they go out and take pictures! This image was taken at the Hamilton Harbour in Ontario on such a crazy day. Not even a heavy sturdy tripod could produce a sharp image (even at high ISO). It was so windy you could feel the rocks on the edge of the water shaking (yep - that's where I was standing). Just to give the viewer a sense of how strong the winds were, the water level on a calm day is typically about 10 feet below the surface of the pier. Blue Mesa Reservoir, located in the Curecanti National Recreation Area, is Colorado's largest body of water. The reservoir is located in Western Colorado between Montrose and Gunnison at an elevation of 7,519'. Formed by damming the Gunnison River, Blue Mesa Lake is one of the three reservoirs formed from the Gunnison River. Also located in Curecanti National Recreation Area, the other two reservoirs are Crystal Reservoir and Marrow Point Reservoir. The area is filled with beautiful mesas, deep narrow canyons, and fjord like lakes. Covering 41,972 acres, the park brings over 960,000 visitors each year. Pulteney Bridge in Bath, illuminated at twilight and reflecting in the River Avon. Pulteney Bridge, together with the Ponte Vecchio in Florence, is one of the world's most beautiful bridges and surely the most romantic. Like the Ponte Vecchio it is one of a handful of historic bridges in the world with shops built into it. It was built for William Pulteney by Robert Adam in an attempt to connect central Bath to land on the other bank of the River Avon.
